1.) ANOTHER CINEMATIC TEA PARTY-SUNDAY, MAR. 7 AT THE IRIS

Back by popular demand, another showing of “The TEA Party Documentary” at the IRIS Theatre in Cochranton at 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 7.  There is no admission fee but a free will offering will be taken up to support the cause.  This is sponsored by the newly formed Venango County TEA Party Patriots.   The film documents the first year of activity of the Tea Party movement and the phenomenon of the 2009 9/12 March on Washington.   Feb. 27 was the first anniversary of the start of this movement and this is being celebrated in hundreds of towns across the US.    Come find out what it’s all about and how you can make a difference.

2.) COUPLE’S NIGHT OUT

Passion – Adventure – Newness – Creativity – Romance – these aren’t feelings God just intended for novels.  Bring your spouse for a special treat to the “Couple’s Night Out”, part of the Home Improvement Weekend sponsored by Galloway UMC on March 13 at 6:00 pm.  There will be plentiful hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, and encouragement for all married couples.   Speakers for the evening will be Jeff & Debby McElroy with their delightful wit and humor and scripturally based message for couples.  No psycho-babble, no abstract clinical theories, just real people with real answers.  Whether you’ve been married for five years for fifty, you will enjoy this great night out.   Call 437-5425 for reservations and information.

3.) MAKING OF AMERICA SEMINAR – MAY 8

Last summer I had the privilege of attending this seminar held at the Quality Inn in Franklin.  A young man from Franklin, Tait Brady and his wife, spearheaded bringing this event to our area and I am so thankful they did.  I was amazed at how much I learned.  I think all of us who were there were convinced that this education is badly needed at this time in our country.  The seminar is based on the book, “The 5000 Year Leap” and is a learning experience your family will never forget.

This year Lighthouse Ministries of Franklin and American Family Association of PA are bringing this Seminar back on May 8 at Seneca Hills Bible Conference, 276 Damascus Road, Franklin, PA  16323.  The seminar is an all day seminar, from 8:30 to 4:30 pm and includes lunch and a workbook.  We will take a look at the solid political and economic principles from the preamble through the amendments to the Constitution.  You will learn perhaps for the first time, how nearly every problem in America today can be solved by restoring these successful concepts.    Cost for the individuals is $25 or $40 per couple.  Children can come for $15 each.  This seminar is great for homeschoolers.  Reservations are needed by April 8 and can be made by calling 814-437-5355 or mailing your check payable to Lighthouse Ministries of Franklin, 149 Summit Drive, Franklin, PA  16323.   This event is proudly endorsed and recommended by The Venango County TEA Party Patriots.

5.) THE TOUGHEST TEST IN COLLEGE

Preparing for college involves more than just buying new clothes and textbooks.  Your toughest test is not going to be on paper; it is a test of your heart and mind.  Can you live out your convictions and share your faith with students and professors who tell you that what you believe is absurd and impractical?

I have a few copies of a 45 minute file introducing the TrueU series and shares stories of students who were tested and stood in opposition to false worldviews.  Their experiences will motivate you to define what you believe and why, so you can be confident in your faith.    From the creators of Focus on the Family’s “The Truth Project,” the TrueU Series presents a biblical response to a range of questions including:

  • How did we get here?
  • Why is there evil in the world?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • What is our purpose?
  • How do we live the Christian life?
  • What happens when we die?

I am happy to give these DVD’s to the first four callers or emailers – first come, first serve.  Call 437-5355 or email stationmanager@wawn.org

After losing his father at the age of seven, he was raised by his single mother. As a teenager, he got involved with street activity. One day he was invited to an outreach where he heard a solid presentation of the gospel. It was that night that he realized his life needed something different that the streets were not giving him. Tony put his trust in the Lord that night.  For well over a decade, Tony has been preaching about the life changing message of hope, healing, forgiveness and purpose found in Jesus Christ alone. Chapel on the Hill is located right off I-80 at Emlenton exit 42, just above the Emlenton Truck Plaza on Rt. 208.

6.) THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Thought I would take this opportunity to give you all a “heads up” on a certain terminology that is being frequently used these days.   Many innocently are using the term having heard it on TV and in the media but would have red faces of embarrassment if they knew the meaning.

The term “tea bagger” used to describe participants of the Tea party movement is extremely offensive!  It is a term coined by homosexuals to describe an extremely vile sexual practice that I could never even begin to speak about.  I rue the day I learned of it because it’s hard to get garbage like that out of your mind.   Suffice it to say, there are some things you don’t want to know.

So a heads up to all who might be discussing this topic – never use this terminology if you don’t want to offend.  It’s worse than using the “N” word in the presence of an African-American.  Many newspapers have banned the terminology and it would be well if the general public did the same.

We prefer – Patriots, if you please.     Thank You!                    Jane
