TAX HELP FOR SENIORS & THOSE WITH LOW INCOMES

Volunteers will be available to complete your 2009 tax returns starting Tuesday, February 2nd, at the Oil City Library working every Tuesday and Wednesday until April 13th; at the Baptist Church in Franklin starting Thursday, February 4th, working every Thursday and Friday (except Good Friday) until April 15th from 8 AM until 3 PM.  You should bring all 2009 tax documents including your real estate tax receipts marked PAID.  It would be helpful if you bring last year's (2008) returns.

Salvation Army Ongoing Fundraiser

A pizza sale to help offset the cost of the new building.  They are packaged by KB Pizza.  Everything is in a package of its own inside the pepperoni, cheese, and sauce.  There are 2 12" pizza shells in the package.  The cost is $9.00 for both pizzas.If you have any questions feel free to call Virginia at 432-5919

The Franklin Fine Arts Council will sponsor the first annual Taste of Talent Vocal Competition this summer.  The competition will be held on Wednesday evenings in June (16, 23, 30) and the finals will be held during A Taste of Franklin Weekend (July 31, Aug 1).  The competition is open to individual soloists or small groups with a maximum of 4, ages: 16 & up.   The winner will receive $1000.

Saturday, February 20 – Speech Tournament for The Western Pennsylvania Christian Orators (WPaCO,  a group of ome schooling families with a vision to assist home-educating parents as they endeavor to develop sound communication skills in Christian students. For more information about WPaCO, please visit www.wpaco.com Community Judges needed:  As part of the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA), we are required to recruit approximately 25 adults from our communities to assist in judging our students’ performances. NO SPECIAL ADVANCED TRAINING IS REQUIRED. We will provide all necessary instruction on the day you judge.  To show our gratitude, please allow us to provide you with complimentary snacks and meals during the tournament.

When & Where:  The tournament will take place on February 20, 2010 at First Baptist Church, 103 Cranberry Road, Grove City, PA.We will need help from morning to evening on that day. Help for even a half-day will assist us greatly. As a judge, you can set your own schedule. Come for half a day, for two rounds, or for the entire day.  Judge training will be provided at various times throughout each day. Sunday, Feb. 21 – "Sound Witness" from Jamestown PA in Concert at Harrisville UMC, 301 S. Main St., Harrisville at 7:00 pm.  Proceeds of a love offering will be given to the group to further their ministry.

Sunday, February 21 - Italian Buffet from 10:30 - 1:30 at Bethel United Methodist Church - Social Hall, 2656 State Route 417, Franklin.  The buffet features various Italian dishes, salad, rolls, dessert, and beverage. Thursday, April 22 - 17th Annual Focus on Our Future Community Forum, 8:30 to 4:30 at the Oil City YWCA.  Forum Theme: R.E.S.P.E.C.T with presenting Keynote Speaker: Jess Wiener with a desire to create social change.  Jess was a founding member of the University Park Ensemble; the UPE used social, health and educational theatre to create social action and campus awareness on such topics as body image, eating disorders, date rape and sexual assault, hate crimes, diversity issues, and domestic violence.
