Friday, July 3 - "NEW HOPE NEW BEGINNING COFFEE HOUSE and "TUESDAY COMMUNITY PRAYER MEETING" is inviting the area churches to join us in a "MARCH FOR FREEDOM " precession on the streets of Titusville on Friday, July 3rd at 11:00AM! We will meet for prayer at Sheide Park, then walk together through town! You are welcome to bring any patriotic items you would like to carry, or you are welcome to carry one of ours! We are asking everyone that is able to wear red, white and blue! Saturday, July 4 - HAVE A WONDERFUL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION - There is no TEA Party schedule in this area for July 4 as advertised in general over AFR.  The Franklin "American Freedom Rally" - TEA Party-Part 2 - will be held on July 18 at Franklin High School, 246 Pone Lane, Franklin, PA  16323, at 7:00 pm.   Sponsored by Lighthouse Ministries of Franklin/WAWN, 89.5 FM.

July 6-10 - GOOD NEWS CAMP with Child Evangelism Fellowship, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Bucktails on Route 322 near the Cranberry Mall behind the State Police Barracks.  Daily activities include choices of horseback riding, crafts, music & drama, swimming and fishing.  Lots of surprises daily!  Only the first 100 campers registered and paid will be accepted each week. Tuesday, July 7 - Free Outdoor Movie Night, Grace UMC, 100 Central Ave., Oil City, at dusk in the parking lot behind the church.  The movie is family-friendly and one that we feel everyone will enjoy.  Free popcorn, hotdogs and candy will be offered.  There will be face painting for the children and vacation bible school information available as well.  In the event of rain, the movie will be shown in the church's social hall.   Come and join the fun!

Friday, July 10 - Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? Saturday, July 11 - 7th Annual Soapbox Derby sponsored by Venango Fatherhood Initiative.  Two locations: Oil City on July 11 on Central Ave. and Rocky Grove on Aug. 1, Rt 417, across from RG High School.  Registration begins at 8:00 am and race starts promptly at 9:00 am.  For ages 7-14 (must turn age 7 by date of race).  For more information about purchasing a "go-kit" car, participating in the race, sponsorship opportunities or contributing a door prize, call 814-676-9940 ext. 12.

Saturday, July 18 - AN AMERICAN FREEDOM RALLY, as a follow-up to the Franklin April TEA Party.  It will be held at Franklin High School Auditorium on Pone Lane in Franklin at 6:30 p.m.   Bring your signs, your flags, your t-shirts, etc. and be prepared to hear updates, see the video made from the last event and hear keynote speaker, Dr. Peter Marshall in person.   PROTEST, PERSEVERE AND PRAY!  The saga continues!

Sunday, July 19 - Ken Osborne, gospel singer, will be in concert at the Tionesta Alliance Church, Rt. 36 South, 7:00pm. Ken is from Traverse City, Michigan and served as music director at College Terrace Weslyan Church for 21 years.  He has also performed with several quartets throughout the Midwest. A love offering will be received.

July 19-21 - COMMUNITY EVANGELISM SERVICES, sponsored by many area churches at the Franklin High School Auditorium, nightly at 7 pm.  Evangelist will be Dr. Peter Marshall, author of "The Light and the Glory", "From Sea to Shining Sea" and "Sounding Forth the Trumpet."   Morning teaching sessions will also be held from 10-12 at a location to be determined.

Sunday, July 19 - Family Fun Festival, Chapel on the Hill, Emlenton, 10 - 12 Outdoor service, 12-1:30 pm Free picnic with hot wings, 1:30 - 5:00 pm games, bull ride, water slide, talent show, etc.   Jeff Smith from Salt and Light Ministries will minister in music, drama and inspirational movement.  For transportation or more information call 724-867-6771.

Friday, July 24 - Teddy Bear Picnic for ages preschool up to 6th grade.  10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Hasson Park.  If it is storming, the event is cancelled.  This year the event will coincide with the Children's Pool Party at the new James A. Saturday, July 25 - Feed My Sheep Gospel Music Rally, Harrisville UMC, 301 S. Main St., Harrisville.  Braised Steak Dinner 4:00 - 7:00, Adults $8 and Children under age 10, $4.  Concert will be 4:00 to 8:30.  Performers include:  Dan Schall, Ken Metrick, Cookie & Amos Mazzant and Debbie & Barry Wiles.  Concert admittance is a non-perishable food item and/or personal hygiene product.  Sponsored by the Harrisville area churches and benefits the Slippery Rock Area Feed My Sheep food cupboard--a love offering will be taken.

Saturday, July 27 - Family Fishing Day, Two Mile Run Co. Park, Chipmunk Pavilion, 11:00 am.  No license is required during the event; there will be a hotdog cookout and prizes.  The event is free but space is limited.  Please register with Venango Fatherhood Initiative, 814-676-89940, ext. 12 by June 22.

July 27 - Registration Deadline for PPC Golf Scramble, August 8, High Level Golf Course, Kossuth, 9:00 am Shotgun Start.  Cost:  $220 per team or $55 per Individual.  Limit 36 teams.  Includes greens fees, cart, door prized, hole prized and good food.

July 28-31 - Four Day Standardized Child Passenger Safety Training Program, Titusville Fire Dept, 315 No. Franklin St, Titusville.  course hours are 8:30 am until 4:30 pm and attendance is required all four days of the class.  The final day of the course is a car seat inspection event held at the fire dept.  Cost of the training is $60 which covers the cost of course materials, manual and 2-year certification.   The course is made possible by a grant from the John Nesbit and Sarah Henne Rees Charitable Foundation as well as support from Safe Kids of Crawford County.  For more information call 814-838-9971 or email mlakari@roadrunner.com

Sunday, August 2 - A Taste of Franklin, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in Fountain Park.  Enjoy the finest cuisine the Franklin area has to offer.  About 15 local restaurants, grocers, bakeries, caterers and specialty food growers will take part.

August 3-8 - 2009 Venango Country Fair, Route 62, 3 miles south of Franklin.  All fair entries must be pre-registered by July 17, 2009.  Commercial exhibit spaces are available by calling 814-437-7716.  Full fair schedules are available at the Chamber office.  Admission is $4 per person, children under 8 are free.  Wrist bands that grant entrance to the fair all week are available at the Franklin Chamber office for $10.

August 7-8 - Salvation Army Flea Market, at Franklin Salvation Army, 13th St., Franklin.  *:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The cost to rent a table is $10.  Call 814-432-5919 for questions or table rentals.
